Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Welcome to NameMyBaby ("we," "us," or "our"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you as to how we look after your personal data when you visit our website and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Anonymous User ID: To provide a personalized experience and save your preferences (like favorites and history), we use Firebase Anonymous Authentication to assign a unique, anonymous ID to your session. This ID is not linked to your personal identity.
  • User-Generated Content: We store the names you generate and the names you add to your favorites list. This data is associated with your anonymous user ID to provide persistent functionality.
  • Shared Lists: When you share a list of names, we create a record in our database containing the names in that specific list. This record is assigned a unique, non-guessable ID to generate the shareable link.
  • Usage Data (via Google Analytics): We use Google Analytics to collect information about how you interact with our website. This includes data like which pages you visit, how long you stay on them, and what you click on. This data is aggregated and anonymized.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect in the following ways:

  • To operate and maintain our service.
  • To improve your experience by saving your generated names and favorites.
  • To enable the sharing functionality of the application.
  • To monitor and analyze usage to improve our service via Google Analytics.
  • To display relevant advertisements through Google AdSense.

3. Advertising and Cookies

This website may display advertisements provided by Google AdSense.

  • Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our sites and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices.

If you have not opted out of third-party ad serving, the cookies of other third-party vendors or ad networks may also be used to serve ads on this site.

4. Data Storage and Security

All user-specific data, including anonymous IDs and saved names, is stored securely in Google Firebase's Firestore database. We rely on Google's industry-standard security measures to protect your data. We do not store any personally identifiable information (PII) like your name, email, or IP address.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your data to outside parties. The only exception is the data you explicitly choose to share via our sharing feature. The shared links are designed to be secure and non-guessable, but they are publicly accessible if the link is known.

6. Your Data Rights

Since all user-specific data is anonymous, standard rights like access and rectification are not applicable as we cannot identify you. However, you have control over your data within the browser. Clearing your browser's site data will effectively delete your anonymous user ID and dissociate you from your saved history and favorites.
